A harem is a portion of a polygamous family that is exclusively for women, usually with a religious theme. It also alludes to the women who live there. This can include the male head of household's female relatives, servants, and spouses and concubines. A harem has come to represent a group of women who are kept for the sole purpose of pleasing a single guy in popular culture.
